6 ways to make GoNoodle a part of your 1st grade routine!

Good mornings with Maximo!

We start each morning with a little yoga taught by Maximo the monkey. These videos offer calming stretches with a little humor to get your day going. If your class needs to get some energy out first in the morning, Maximo also offers a Maxerana and Chicken Dance. Both are sure to get some wiggles out!

Center transitions with Koo Koo Kanga Roo!

Does it take your kiddos forever to get from one place to another? Mine struggle with cleaning up their centers and moving onto our next activity, so after centers, I put on a Koo Koo Kanga Roo. Trust me, nobody wants to waste time when you can Shake Yo Foot instead.

Spelling fun with Body Spell!

One of my favorite GoNoodle Plus activities is Body Spell. You can use an automated list or you can type in your own spelling or vocabulary list! The kids then use their bodies to spell out the words. It is amazing and we do it at least two days a week with our spelling list. Way to reach those kinesthetic learners! Also, do you ever just have five minutes before recess but you’re finished with everything you need to do? Yep, this is the perfect educational activity for that, too!

After lunch, we Chillax!

I don’t know about you, but after lunch, my classroom is wild! My firsties have caught their second wind and have all the energy in the world, so we like to do Chillax with Koo Koo Kanga Roo to help us calm down and get refocused for learning!

Big test? No Problem!

Before a test, I like to have my kids do a calming GoNoodle to get them settled down and focused. We like Airtime and Airtime Space because it focuses on breathing, and has always worked like a charm to get even my most active kids still and ready for the test. There are also encouraging videos, like Believe in Yourself and Try Your Best to promote positive thinking.

Last call!

Now the last movement of the day depends on how my kids are. If they’re tired and I need to wake them up for some more learning, we will do a Fresh Start Fitness workout, or a Kidz Bop video. If they are extra energized, we do something that calms them down and helps them regain focus, like Brainercise with Mr. Catman.
